Opus 33.2 - meh

Today a few band guys and I went to attend a concert by NIESB (National Institute of Education Symphonic Band). It was held, oddly, in NTU >.> and so we met up in Boon Lay and took a half-hour bus ride over to NTU's auditorium.

Oh right. The reason we went to attend NIESB's concert was because Mr Jee, our TIC, was also performing for the thing (1st Clarinet; lol when he played tuning Bb first we thought that he was the Concert Master, but turns out he was just the Tuning Guy). So anyway, the concert was movie-themed. Meaning the band's repertoire consisted mostly of movie theme songs, what with Disnay's Fantillusion!(basically a medley of many Disney movie themes), Pocahontas, and others I can't remember >.> Oddities include a video game medley (seriously, Halo, Civ 4, and Kingdom Hearts? Nothing from FF? What the heck?), and a little swing ensemble of a Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Baritone Saxophone (Want some sax? Get a sax partner now! ...ahem). The Pink Panther the ensemble played was quite boring to be honest, and I MUCH perferred our own arrangement. Their other song was just plain weird shit.

Well, anyway, the concert on the whole was pretty boring as well. There was one part where a soloist trumpeteer played Gonna Fly Now from Rocky Balboa, but he messed up quite badly (he really tried very hard, so we have to give him credit). The encores were quite lame, and boring as well. A Chirstmas medley wasn't bad, but it still sounded boring =\ the other encore was...lame.

After the concert ended (omg it was like two and a half hours long), we went back to Jurong Point (which Arjun thought was in Jurong East >.>) to have dinner...at about 8.30. The new and refurbished JP was nothing so much as confusing. Seriously, we entered the second floor from the MRT <.< (lol I changed direction this time). Then, we went up to the third, which was whatever, but down a gentle ramp later, we were back on the seond floor of the old part of JP. Which means we were on floor 2.5. Well.

Then we had dinner at KFC (we tried Kopitiam, but it was so packed you couldn't find a single free table), and went back home afterwards. We also tried to push Arjun off the MRT a couple of times, unsuccessfully =[
